"Because" cannot exist by itself, because it is a result of a
catalyst and part of a reason why. This group improvisation piece for
five dance soloists is based on the principle of chain reactions and
the philosophical doctrine of repetition and difference: the
improvised movement material is in a constant process of development
through copying, looping, interpreting and distorting, the state of a
moment being a result of the previous. The five dancers manifest a
neurological network, where the individual is receiver, transformer
and amplifier of information. "Because" is a game of individuality
within the collective and its rules are founded on studies of
sociology, mass-movements, swarm behaviour and developmental theories.

Choreography: Yannis Adoniou
Dancer: Leslie Schickel
Yia Yia is Greek for grandmother. This creation is inspired by and dedicated to Yannis Adoniou's late grandmother.
In 4 Sections
Choreography: Yannis Adoniou
Music: Matt Ingalls, Alfred Schnittke, Jethro DeHart and Arvo Pärt
Each of the four sections draws its inspiration from a different contemporary composer. Matt Ingalls, Alfred Schnittke, Jethro DeHart and Arvo Pärt provide a score that stretches from arrhythmic electro-acoustical clarinet to the spiritual and heartfelt.
This work interprets the rhythmic and dynamic challenges of each score by creating a new physicality through which the dancers relate to one another as well as the space that they inhabit.
